Following the debate, mainstream media at first used the word “disaster” to describe Biden’s performance, but then shifted to descriptives like “shaky,” “uneven,” “slow start,” and “less than stellar.”

Even the President’s spinmeisters struggled to describe his performance using words like “strongish,” and”developing,” and the phrase “awesome finish.” Spinmeisters also pushed neologisms like “protoepic,” “deconstructivistic,” and “Bidenesque.”

A deeper breakdown of search data revealed a spike in conservative media searches for synonyms for disaster.
