With a change in bakeries, Girls Scouts of Oregon and Washington are taking the opportunity to update recipes and cookie names.
While the popular Thin Mints will be kept, the cookies will have a different taste and texture. At the same time, new cookies will be introduced to better reflect the Northwest experience.
PORTLAND SATURDAYS – This cookie is a tribute to Portland and begins as a vanilla cookie filled with pop rocks hidden in strawberry filling. The experience is pleasant at first but then unexpectedly explodes into a riot of flavors.
SNICKERVEGANS – These vegan cookies are made with almond flour, aquafaba, coconut sugar, vegan butter, and then coated with cardamon, the taste is like nothing you have ever experienced. Seriously!
CHAZEES – Inspired by the creation of Seattle’s Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone (CHAZ) in 2020, which was a “no-go” zone for police and authorities, the recipe is secret. We have no idea what is in this cookie. Eat at your own risk.
ACAIADES – Formerly lemonades, this new cookie is made with açaí berries and is rich in antioxidants. We got a good deal on the berries when Costco cancelled their Açaí bowls because everyone thought they tasted like berry flavored hand soap. Ask for them by name if you can pronounce it.
GRAFFITIS – Covered by a swirl of colorful markings, that may or may not be words, Graffitis are individually decorated by vandals on work release. Caution: The frosting will stain everything it comes in contact with.
STREET BUDDIES – These chocolate wafers come in a two pack; one for yourself and one to share with a houseless person. Don’t be shy, the people camped in your park are just like you. Make a friend, but don’t eat or drink anything they offer you.
GREENIES – Baked in electric ovens powered by solar panel green energy, these cookies are a delicious caramel and coconut swirl on a graham cracker base.*
*Available intermittently when the sun shines in Portland. Not available from October through May.
