As cities and counties ban personal fireworks, there is also a move to replace community fireworks displays with drone shows. After watching a drone show on Independence Day, here are seven reasons why drone shows are better.
NO EXPLOSIONS OF LIGHTS IN THE SKY – Instead of the rockets’ red glare and the bombs bursting in air, you get glowing globs slowly moving at a snail’s pace. Very soothing. Drone shows don’t over-excite the kids. Or excite them.
EASY TO MAKE OUT SHAPES – The slow pace of drone shows gives you lots of time to discuss what shape the drones are making. “It’s a bird!” “It’s a plane!” “No, it’s a circle!”
A RETRO EXPERIENCE – Since drone shows have the resolution of 1970s Atari games, the stick figures are easily recognizable. Who doesn’t love Pong in the sky?
EASY TO REMEMBER – Since drones can only make a few shapes during a show, you can use your short term memory to recall all seven of them.
NO DIZZYING PINWHEELS – While spinning and shrieking fireworks are popular, there’s none of that nonsense in a drone show. If they make a pinwheel it rotates at the speed of a clock.
YOU BOYCOTT CHINA – Since 99% of fireworks are made in China, patriotic Americans will refuse to watch fireworks shows. Wait! What? Most drones re made in China! Doh!
SAVES YOU TIME – Since drones only have the battery life of 10-13 minutes, your family doesn’t have to invest a lot of time watching a show. You can quickly get right back in the traffic jam that you took to get there.
