Even after nearly four years as Vice President, pronouncing the Vice President’s first name is controversial. Pronunciations include, “Camel-a,” “Kuh-MAHL-a,” or “Kuh-MEL-a.” However, the correct pronunciation is “COM-mah-lah.”

Now that Harris is soon to be a candidate for President, Democrats are insisting it is disrespectful and racist to mispronounce her name.

“No one has ever been treated like this,” Harris complained.

Many politicians and celebrities agree.

“All people, in every party, should learn to pronounce a person’s name,” said Vivek Ganapathy Ramaswamy. “How hard can it be?”

“Names reflect a person’s culture and history so it is hurtful and racist to not respect a family name,” said Natalie Portman (AKA Neta-Lee Hershlag).

“Always be proud of your name because it’s who you are,” posted Cherilyn Sarkisian (Cher).

Briefly, the Vice President considered going by her middle name, Devi, but heard it pronounced DEV-e, Dev-Vee, Deh-vee, and Duh-ee. Although that last pronunciation might have been a heckler commenting on one of her speeches.

Just before publication former President Barrack Obama weighed in saying, “Middle names aren’t important.”
