Popular media reviewer, Noah Dahl, is a frequent critic of movie remakes and sequels.
“There’s no creativity left in the visual arts community,” Dahl said recently. “Why is Disney making live-action remakes of its animated movies? Because that corporate monstrosity has sucked the creativity out of every fiber of its artists’ beings, that’s why.”
When it was pointed out that Disney’s remakes have attracted large audiences, Dahl was dismissive.
“Audiences have no souls. What kind of mindless automatons would watch the same plot over and over? I have no respect for any of them.”
At that point Dahl had to end the interview because he was leaving for Ashland Oregon.
“My partner and I have tickets for the Shakespeare Festival. This season they’re doing The Tempest and Romeo and Juliet. I’m particularly excited about the innovative reimagining of Romeo and Juliet. The actors are going to wear modern dress giving the audience a whole new way to embrace the nuances of the characters.”
After the Shakespeare Festival, Noah Dahl will be leaving on a book tour promoting his new book, “Fifty Classic Movies I’ve Watched Fifty Times.”
