Recently, Portland readers of Nextdoor were stunned when Addie Whitehead posted that she had “heard gunshots” and then it turned out there actually had been gunfire.

“She’s one of those that posts a lot about creepy men, cougars in her yard, and gun shots,” neighbor Sam Song said. “What was amazing was that this time someone really had fired a gun.”

The gun shots were traced to a police encounter with an armed shoplifter at a nearby strip mall.

“Wow, she actually did hear gunshots,” LaSwanda Jones marvelled. “What else has she been right about? Is there really a pack of wolves in our neighborhood?”

In recognition of her achievement, Nextdoor organized an online award ceremony for Addie. However, as the Zoom ceremony began, Addie posted again.

“I just saw a bear driving a car down my street.”
