Central to the Harris campaign was bringing joy back to America. At her campaign stops, she always began and ended with her message of joy, sandwiching calling Trump a fascist, and prognosticating the end of democracy if he won in the middle.
While not exactly as she intended, Harris did fulfill her joy promise.
“I’ve never been so happy,” oil rig worker Reggie Guy said. “If I get rehired and get my medical back Baby Ricky can get his operation.”
“It’s the simple things that make me happy,” Jane Speaker said. “Maybe I can stop pretending there are 60 genders.”
Even some Democrats seemed joyful.
“I had to pretend for years that Biden was sharp,” Tammy Thyme said. “I don’t know if I could have have swallowed four years of word salad and not throw up.”
Perhaps the most joy was among the remaining employees at CNN.
“I think Trump just saved my job,” CNN Analyst Hugh Slander said. “Our ratings went in the tank after Trump’s last impeachment. Now we can kick him around some more and get those ratings up.”
At publication time, the joy also seemed to be spreading to Israel and Ukraine.
