To stop the decline in ratings for Al Jazeera’s cable channel, the Qatar owned network is planning to introduce educational children’s programming. It’s first effort will be a cartoon called “Blewey.”

Season 1, Episode 1, has been completed and follows the title character, Blewey,” who is a lovable talking dog. Blewey’s adventures begin as he comes to America and goes to school with infidels. Horrified by finding girls in school, and that his teacher shows her limbs and hair, Blewey tries to educate his classmates and teacher about their sinful lives. Many hijinks and light moments follow.

The episode ends when Blewey chooses martyrdom to teach his classmates a lesson, and blows himself up during “free reading” time, which also offended him.

While the series was set to premier mid-season, the premier date was moved back because writers were struggling with where to go with the plot in Episode 2.

One idea was to start the next episode with Blewey’s mother waking up and finding him in the shower, so the whole first episode turned out to be a dream.

Another writer, Ahmad Mar Val, pushed the idea that when Blewey detonated, that he opened a door to the multiverse where an identical Blewey continues the series.

However, the rest of the writers were as sick of “multiverse” plots as everyone else is and soundly beat Mar Val.
