Dozens of empty seats were tragically damaged when a multiplex ceiling in Wenatchee Washington collapsed during an action sequence of Captain America: Brave New World.

“Fortunately, we were showing a Marvel movie and not Wicked,” theater manager Holly Dae said. “The only lower risk would have been if we were showing Anora.”

“At first we thought it was a new 3D effect,” viewer Billy Batson said. “But the stuff that fell down didn’t look as realistic as the stuff in the movie.”

Fortunately, neither Batson nor his date were hurt by the collapse.

“But the dust and stuff ruined about $100 of snacks. We had a medium popcorn and two small sodas we hadn’t finished,” Batson said.

Theater owners shared that they did not intend to replace the rows of seats that had to be removed.

“We’ll just use this theater for when the live action Snow White comes out.
