Under the Biden Administration, the Army’s dress code was liberalized to allow the wearing of earrings, braids, makeup, and nail polish, and that was just for the men.
Under President Donald Trump, the Army has rolled back some of Biden’s liberalized dress code, although, has not eliminated all the progressive features. Here is part of the new code.
Men are now required to shave daily.
Trans women are now required to shave daily.
Women: Glitter makeup cannot be worn in combat areas.
Men: Glitter makeup cannot be worn in combat areas. Exception: If you are undercover at a foreign Pride event.
Women can still wear braids, but not French braids – we’re still ticked off about their lack of support during the invasion of Iraq. However, Freedom braids will be allowed.
Men and Women: Hair coloring must be natural colors (i.e. natural for a human, not a Parrot).
Men and Women: Makeup must be applied conservatively for an even skin tone and a natural complexion. (Note: Orange is considered a natural complexion for the duration of Trump’s second term)
Women: When wearing the skirt option, the skirt will not extend below the knee, nor fall above the kneecap when standing to attention.
Men: When wearing the skirt option, the skirt will not extend below the knee, nor fall above the kneecap when standing to attention.
Men can no longer wear nail polish, unless it is in pastel shades and matches the highlights in their hair.
Men’s hair must not be longer than 2 inches on top and 1 inch on the side. However, soldiers may have longer hair worn in a “swoop” over the forehead in the “Presidential” style.
Women are allowed to wear earring studs in each earlobe (only, and not in all the other crazy places ya’ll punch holes) and must match. Must be plain and cannot exceed 1/4 inch in diameter.
Men are allowed to wear earring studs in each earlobe (only) if the studs can also be used as a lethal weapon. The studs must match (e.g. one can’t be used for stabbing and the other an explosive).
Without warning, Drill Sergeants will be allowed to yank out any rings, studs, doodads, etc., you have protruding from any part of your body. And we mean “any” part.
While the changes have been criticized by right-wingers as minor, others believe they are a step toward improving the Army’s image of lethality without sacrificing its inclusivity.
